If you’re looking for a fast-paced, dynamic role, the Population Public Health Support Team (PPHST) at Health Link within Primary Care Alberta offers a unique opportunity to support the health and safety of Albertans. This role requires adaptability, continuous learning, and a strong commitment to clinical excellence. Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for supporting a number of different programs and service areas, including the Alberta Lung Cancer Screening Program (ALCSP) and the Outpatient COVID Treatment Program (OCTP) where decision support tools are used to prescreen Albertans for eligibility, providing follow-up care for Blood and Body Fluid Exposures (BBFE) in collaboration with a virtual physician. The RN works closely with partners including the provincial MOH team, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), and Communicable Disease Control (CDC). Additionally, the RN also works with the virtual cancer screening pathways for breast, cervical/HPV, and colorectal screening with a focus on for underscreened populations. The role also includes responding to calls from congregate settings such as schools, daycares, and group homes, and supporting timely outbreak reporting and early response activities in alignment with Alberta’s Public Health Act and communicable disease guidelines. Across all program areas, the RN is responsible for educating patients, collaborating with healthcare partners, and documenting care in connect care while adhering to process and scripting documents. As PPHST continues to expand, this position offers strong opportunities for professional growth and requires solid clinical judgment, critical thinking, strong communication skills, and attention to detail, with the program operating daily from 08:00 to 22:00 and requiring rotating on-site shifts with no remote option.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Recent experience, in the last 2-3 years with CDC/PPH/PPHST. Recent experience in the last 1-2 years, providing clinical assessments and care over the phone. Ability to complete telephone interviews and electronic clinical documentation for extended periods of time. Ability to learn and utilize multiple electronic platforms concurrently. Intermediate computer skills essential, including working knowledge of the following recent experience in the last 1- 2years with; Office 365 applications; Genesys (computer-based phone software), and Connect Care. Must have a minimum typing speed 35 WPM. Able to work as part of a team, be self-directed, action-oriented, demonstrate quick problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and able to multitask. Demonstrated ability to manage time in a fast-paced environment, adhere to deadlines, and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities during your shift. Comfortable working on a small multidisciplinary team, and bring a collaborative approach to their work. Understands the importance of following process and guidelines. Comfort working in a sedentary environment for up to 7.75 hour shifts. Exhibits exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience in Connect Care is preferred. Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and diligence with the ability to work in a fast paced, challenging and constantly changing environment. Exhibits effective interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships within the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated empathetic disposition. Strong team player.
