Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Primary Care Alberta is seeking a skilled and compassionate Primary Care Nurse to provide comprehensive care, education, and support to patients across the lifespan within an interprofessional primary care setting. This role is grounded in the Canadian Family Practice Nurses Association competencies and provincial primary care guidelines, encompassing six domains of practice: professionalism, clinical practice, communication, collaboration and partnership, quality assurance, and leadership. The Primary Care Nurse will deliver patient-centered, evidence-informed care including assessment, care planning, chronic disease management, health promotion, and prevention, while supporting patient self-management and addressing social determinants of health. Responsibilities include phone triage, managing nursing comprehensive care lists and recalls, coordinating care with community partners, and ensuring continuity of care across settings. The role also includes participating in quality improvement initiatives, and safety standards, while contributing to team-based care in a very busy environment. Collaboration, adaptability, and ongoing professional development are essential to support high-quality, integrated care delivery.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Must have previous experience working in Primary Care or Family Medicine, with demonstrated experience in full-scope nursing practice. Proven ability to provide comprehensive care across the lifespan, including chronic disease management, health promotion, and patient education. Strong understanding of primary care competencies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered care approaches. Experience with phone triage, care coordination, and use of electronic medical records and communication tools. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. and perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, and bending as required to deliver patient care. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and professional development. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a Primary Care Network is an asset. Fluent in English (spoken and written). Demonstrated ability to be kind, collaborative, and work effectively within a team environment. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated ongoing professional development related to Primary Care.
