Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Valid driver’s license and vehicle in good repair for work related travel. Able to drive-in all-weather conditions. Lift/carry supplies up to a min of 30 lbs. Ability to raise arms to shoulder height in a repetitive movement, use fine motor hand coordination required for immunization. Ability to bend, twist, kneel and respond safely and quickly to emergency situations. Independently perform skills of a certified BLS provider. Sit, stand for a minimum of 30 mins Work in outreach sites that have no consistent ergonomic setup. Min of 1 yr current work experience in Public Health Well Child Clinic within the last 3 yrs Min 1 full yr Current School Health Nursing experience with Connect Care. Communicate effectively with diverse clients from various cultures, ages, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills. Conduct contemporaneous electronic documentation at the point of care. Self-directed and able to exercise critical thinking and independent nursing judgment in fast paced and stressful environment. Able to make critical decisions and respond safely and quickly to situations/settings (e.g. anaphylaxis, frequent faints, post-partum depression screening, emergency response). New employees to AHS must have a recent, within the past three-month criminal record check/police information check, including vulnerable sector search.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in a community setting will be considered. Current CNA Certification in Community Health Nursing. Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. Experience working in Connect Care Clinical Information System.
