Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Public Health Leadership team, is accountable for contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of overall operational plans, policy, and programs to support client-focused care and service delivery within the Calgary zone. Supports provincial and AHS strategic changes and develop strategies and processes to communicate and facilitate staff in their movement to new models or practices in collaboration with Program Managers, Director, Educators, Leads, and Stakeholders. Promotes a culture supporting hazard assessment, risk management, incident identification, reporting and correction, and compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and safe work practices to continually improve health and safety for staff and clients. Provides day-to-day supervision and leadership through effective communication, ethical decision-making, and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives. Supports shared understanding of the direction and vision of program goals with the front-line staff. Fosters an environment where staff members take responsibility for their work and contribute to the achievement of the business goals. Ensures that policies, procedures, standards, and practices are implemented consistently and that compliance is achieved. Participates with Program Manager in the recruitment of staff including the development of position profiles, interviewing, reference checks, and onboarding. Responsible for attendance management, performance management and appraisals, and coaching. Identifies Workplace Health, Safety, and wellness trends and issues within the Program. Oversees the implementation of collective agreements across the areas of responsibility. Engages internal and external stakeholders in the change process, understands the impact on both internal and external stakeholders, and manages risks and benefits accordingly.

Description:

The Care Manager for Immunization Services and Rapid Response is a key operational leadership role within the Public Health team within the Calgary Zone. This position is responsible and accountable for providing direction, team leadership, and organization over the day-to-day activities of public health services, related to the Immunization Services and Rapid Response programs and services. This position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions in consultation with the Program Manager and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of the goals of the Immunization Services and Rapid Response teams. The Care Manager reports directly to the Program Manager, of Public Health, Calgary Zone, who primarily focuses on the overall provision and program direction of the public health services within this geographical area. The position provides feedback to the Program Manager concerning the business goals and operational plans for the sites that the Program Manager and Care Manager are responsible for.

Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing, business administration, healthcare management, or related field. Canadian Community Health Nursing Certification – Specialization an asset. A minimum of 5 years in a management role in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. The incumbent will demonstrate a clear pattern of professional and personal development and have a proven track record of success in health leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in nursing or related field. 3-5 years of Public Health clinical experience. Previous experience in a leadership/management role. Project management skillset.
