Mammography Technologist II (ACB)

Screen Test, part of the Alberta Breast Cancer Screening Program, is seeking a Mammography and Quality Control Technologist II to join the Screen Test North team. Reporting to the Screen Test North Supervisor and working closely with the South office MQC Technologist, this role provides leadership to the North mammography technologist team and oversees daily operations within mammography and technical areas. This role is part of a dynamic team that provides essential screening mammography services in Edmonton and more than 120 rural communities across Alberta through two mobile mammography units, helping ensure early detection for individuals in rural, remote, Indigenous, and underserved communities. This position follows a four-day work week totaling 31 hours and includes some mobile rotations consisting of three 12 hour days with required out of town and overnight travel. Key components of this role will include but are not limited to: Performing high-quality screening mammography exams. Completing image quality control assessments. Assisting in preparation for accreditation and participating in accreditation activities. Facilitating change management, promoting team development, and supporting performance management initiatives. Being accountable for executing strategic and operational priorities for the mobile team, including developing and implementing site-based plans, ensuring effective resource deployment, and fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement. Maintaining and verifying hours worked for payroll purposes. Creating and maintaining work schedules for the North mobile team. Participating in on-call rotations to support staff outside regular working hours.
Description:
As a Mammography Technologist II, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the mammography and technical areas and have direct supervisory responsibilities for Mammography Technologist I staff. As well as being knowledgeable about mammographic equipment and positioning, you must be able to work without direct supervision and perform a wide range of quality control tests with attention to detail. You must be able to recognize and troubleshoot problems and be able to show a high level of communication and interpersonal skills and relate comfortably and professionally with clients, volunteers, and staff within a multi-disciplinary team.

Completion of diploma in Medical Radiation Technology. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Member in good standing with CAMRT or ACMDTT/other provincial licensing bodies. Minimum of 5 years previous mammography experience. Minimum of 2 years management experience. Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license. Must be able to lift supplies of at least 25 pounds up a set of stairs. Proven experience working successfully within a multi-disciplinary team. Proven experience in quality control of mammography images and equipment. Should exhibit strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to motivate others, clear and effective communication, critical thinking and decision making.
Preferred Qualifications:Post graduate course(s) in mammography (e.g., CAMRT Mammo I and Mammo II). Specialty Certificate in Breast Imaging. Knowledge and understanding of CPSA and CAR-MAP Accreditation. Proven experience in conflict management, concerns resolution and performance management. Knowledge and understanding of the HSAA Collective Agreement, with ability to apply it to everyday situations. Management experience within a unionized environment or equivalent. Experience working in a mobile environment.
