Licensed Practical Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), School Health Program, is part of a multidisciplinary team who works with Registered Nurses, students, parents and school staff. The LPN partners with community stakeholders to provide integrated, strength based, family centered care in various settings. This role provides services to school aged children including assessment, implementing teaching modules, and immunization. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills and able to handle assessing and preparing for immunizations in addition to completing high volumes of immunizations in various settings. Specific duties include (but are not limited to): becoming familiar with vaccines, immunizing individuals 5 years of age and older, packing and unpacking supplies, charting, traveling to several schools and other sites and referring high needs clients to appropriate services. The LPN is required to pack, lift, move, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites. Service delivery may require walking several blocks and climbing several flights of stairs, awkward and repetitive movements, sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods of time. This position requires travel within urban and rural communities during work hours. This position requires the successful candidate to follow appropriate hand hygiene techniques including the regular use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap. The successful candidate will support the Leduc County Healthy Schools Program, including travel to Warburg, Thorsby, Calmar, New Humble, Devon, Leduc, Beaumont, and New Sarepta schools.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required. Current Immunization certificate is required if graduated prior to June 2022. Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment required. Strong interpersonal skills required; Experience in interdisciplinary team work required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and organizational skills required. Ability to deliver educational presentations (public speaking) to adults and school aged children is required. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, Internet access and data entry required. Recent experience (within the past two years) working with an EMR (ex. Meditech, eClinician, Connect Care) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience (within the past two years) immunizing adults and/or school aged children is preferred. Experience working with teens, diverse cultures, marginalized populations, and knowledge, understanding, and demonstrated use of the social determinants of health and health promotion is preferred.
