Licensed Practical Nurse
Your Opportunity:
A casual LPN is required at the Sheldon Chumir Central Family Medicine Teaching Centre. The LPN works within a multi-disciplinary team delivering patient and family centred care within the primary care setting. The LPN provides holistic care considering the whole person, the environment and the concepts of health promotion, illness prevention, health maintenance, restoration and protection. (CLHA, Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses in Canada, 2013). Utilizing the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making to provide care the LPN works within his/her scope of practice. The LPN is responsible for rooming patients and assisting with minor procedures. The LPN performs patient assessments, patient testing (eg. vision testing, urinalysis, glucose), patient triaging and patient education. The role is collaborative and works within a team environment providing comprehensive, efficient and safe patient and family care within a Family Practice setting.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
