Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:LPN immunization certificate required if graduated before June 2022 or from another jurisdiction. Lift/carry supplies up to a minimum of 30 lbs. Ability to bend, twist, kneel and respond safely and quickly to a variety of emergency situations. Independently perform the skills of a certified BLS provider. Sit, stand for a minimum of 30 min. Ability to raise arms to shoulder height, in a repetitive movement for immunization. Work within outreach sites that have no consistent ergonomic setup. Minimum 6 months previous Immunization experience within past 3 years. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients from various cultures, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills and ability to conduct contemporaneous electronic documentation at the point of care. Detail orientated strong organizational skills and time management. Demonstrated initiative and strong communication skills. Ability to work as a team player within a multidisciplinary team. Self-directed and exercise independent nursing judgment. Commitment to quality improvement and safety. Critical thinking and decision-making skills. Ability to attend all orientation shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:Successful completion of the Calgary Zone School LPN orientation and school vaccination experience in the last year. At least 3 months recent experience with the roles and responsibilities associated with a regular school LPN role. Knowledge of Connect Care clinical information system. Recent experience working with children. Active participation in professional development opportunities and community engagement.
