Your Opportunity:

The Tuberculosis (TB) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works within Public Health, CDC & Screening of Primary Care Alberta and reports to the Manager of the Edmonton TB Clinic. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team, the LPN provides patient and family centered care to clients with active or latent TB infection. Using the nursing process, you deliver services to individuals, groups, and communities including dispensing and administering medications via directly observed therapy, monitoring, evaluating, and documenting medication effectiveness, identifying signs and symptoms of medication adverse reactions, performing screening and detection, performing vital sign assessments, providing client teaching, and making home visits for clients in the community. This position requires the following: The ability to carry up to 25 lbs. of equipment; pack, push, pull, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies; walk 3-4 blocks, climb 3-4 flights of stairs to deliver services; perform awkward and repetitive movements for an entire 7.75-hour shift, including sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods of time. The ability to document in an electronic medical record continuously throughout the shift. Previous experience working with diverse communities, groups, and/or organizations (i.e., ethno-cultural, equity-setting, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, people with disabilities, and people across all age groups, etc.) The ability to be self-directed and to exercise nursing judgment. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, and organizational skills.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous recent experience (within the last year) in TB care or public health nursing, particularly in the management of TB, infectious diseases, or community-based care. Ability to work to full scope of practice, including administration of medications, interpretation of lab results, and patient assessment. N95 Fit Test. Demonstrated proficiency with Connect Care and Netcare. Must be able to complete client handling activities (e.g., transfers, weight shift, rolling, mobilizing, CPR), pull/push equipment, and tolerate reaching, standing, walking, sitting, and keyboarding.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong clinical knowledge & practical skills in TB care, including understanding of TB diagnostics and treatment regimens. Ability to engage with diverse populations, provide culturally sensitive care. Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and work within a fast-paced environment.
