Your Opportunity:

To work with a busy medical clinic, at your full scope as an HCA. You will doing pre-visit assessments on our patients; assist with rooming patients and other assorted duties in the clinic. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses in the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and overall wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, and you will support effective communication with patients and health care professionals.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.

Additional Required Qualifications:

You must be certified as an HCA with at least three years of experience and you must be on the Alberta roster. You must have excellent communication skills and you must be a good team player. You must be organized and able to be detail focused. You must be able to work with a diverse population and be comfortable working in a busy environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Unregistered nursing staff (LPNs or RNs) may be eligible for this position with a substantial equivalency designation. Familiarity in working in a medical clinic is a benefit. Familiarity with Connect Care will be advantageous.
