Evaluation Associate

Join the Healthier Together – Healthy Settings team to play a key role in measuring and sharing the impact of primary care and population health promotion initiatives. The Evaluation Associate will support Healthier Together and the implementation and evaluation of collaborative projects across Alberta. The Evaluation Associate will report to the Director of the Healthier Together – Healthy Settings program. As an Evaluation Associate you will need strong leadership, collaborative planning, and facilitation skills, as this role requires working with partners both internal and external to Primary Care Alberta. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in co-design, implementation science, participatory evaluation, performance measurement, capacity building and collaboration methods. The Evaluation Associate is responsible for ensuring that evaluation and performance measurement is well planned and executed, data is analyzed, and that the results are disseminated to describe outcomes and impacts on health and well-being in a way that resonates with system and local partners.
Description:
As an Evaluation Associate you will lead collaborative planning and implementation of evaluation with partners within and outside of the health system. You will have a solid foundation in implementation science, participatory evaluation, performance measurement and collaboration methods. The Evaluation Associate is responsible for ensuring that evaluation and performance measurement is well planned and executed, data is analyzed, and that the results are disseminated to describe outcomes and impacts on health and well-being in a way that resonates with system and local partners. You will manage evaluation using common approaches such as the development of evaluation plans, logic models, data collection tools, analyses plans and reporting templates. You will collaborate with partners within and outside of the health care system to co-design and communicate about the progress and impact of Healthier Together. You will act as a mentor and advisor to staff implementing Healthier Together and carrying out local initiatives. The Evaluation Associate will lead the collection of performance related data, connecting various partners working towards a common goal, and creating a shared reporting template to clearly communicate collective progress and impact.

A minimum of a Master’s degree in evaluation or research-based degree in a health-related field (e.g., clinical epidemiology, public health, psychology, or sociology). Plus 5 years of experience in an applied evaluation. Relevant experience conducting program/project evaluation and/or implementation research. Experience applying mixed methods data collection and conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis (e.g., REDCap surveys, virtual interviews and focus groups, NVivo, etc). Experience designing logic models, sourcing validated assessment tools, conducting interviews and focus groups, designing surveys, and identifying secondary data sources. Demonstrated ability to foster complex relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience researching, retrieving, and critically appraising published and unpublished medical and evaluation literature. Experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Ability to manage and prioritize work, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to lead the development and implementation of project evaluations. Advanced written and oral communication skills, including facilitation, presentations, organizational, and diplomacy skills. Conflict management expertise focusing on group dynamics and diverse priorities. Experience collaborating with diverse health system partners. Ability to navigate through PCA systems and processes. Experience of collaborating with partners outside healthcare. Knowledge of settings-based health promotion. Knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention, public health theories, and best practice evidence related to settings-based approaches.
Preferred Qualifications:Canadian Evaluation Society credentialed evaluator (CE) designation. Plus 5 years of experience in an applied KTE and evaluation role in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Experience designing and carrying out Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis.
