Community Health Representative
Your Opportunity:
This position provides liaison between members of the Low German speaking Mennonite community and the health and human service agencies in southern Alberta. The Community Health Representative provides advocacy, modeling and education to encourage client’s self-care, empowerment to take action, and initiative to access the appropriate resources and services in the community. The successful candidate for this position must be fluent in the Low German language (Plautdietsch) and have knowledge of the Low German Mennonite culture.
Description:
As a Community Health Representative, you will work in partnership with community health staff in the provision of screening programs, health education and communicable disease control, and enhance the community capacity through strong community partnerships.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of the Low German Mennonite culture and ability to communicate fluently in Low German (Plautdietsch). Demonstrated experience working with members of the Low German Mennonite community. Demonstrated experience working in partnership with community groups and agencies. Good communication skills – oral and written.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of the health care system and health promotion/healthy living components. Proven organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook programs.
