Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Program Manager, Health Link 811, the Manager, Nursing Services provides operational and clinical leadership for provincial 24/7 virtual nursing services. The manager leads a diverse team or regulated nursing professionals and is accountable for day-to-day operations, workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, coaching, professional development, and employee engagement. Working in a unionized environment, the Manager promotes accountability, collaboration, psychological safety, and continuous improvement. Success requires a leader who demonstrates sound judgment, works autonomously within their scope, and contributes effectively as part of a highly collaborative leadership team. The Manager partners closely with Nursing Services, Allied Health , Integrated Health Care Technology and Support Services, Physicians, unions, provincial programs, and healthcare partners to support integrated service delivery and organizational priorities. The Manger contributes to implementation and evaluation of evolving service models, processes and technologies that enhance patient access, staff experience, quality, safety, and operational effectiveness. The successful candidate is a visible, adaptable leaders with strong communication, relationship-building and change leadership skills and a commitment to excellence in virtual health and nursing practice.

Description:

Manager is accountable for the operational leadership and performance of Health Link's 24/7 nurse teletriage and health information services. Reporting to the Program Manager, Nursing Services, the Clinical Manager provides leadership to a team of teletriage nurses and Clinical Nurse Coordinators, Health Information LPNS, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-informed care and exceptional client experiences. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of clinical operations, workforce planning, staffing, quality improvement, service delivery, and employee engagement within a fast-paced contact centre environment. The Clinical Manager ensures compliance with professional, organizational, and regulatory standards while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation. The Clinical Manager maintains a comprehensive understanding of Health Link's clinical systems, telephony infrastructure, technologies, and provincial referral pathways to support seamless client care and service integration across Alberta. The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to address operational, technical, staffing, and service delivery issues, as well as to communicate emerging health information, referral process changes, public health priorities, and organizational initiatives. A key responsibility of this position is to support and develop clinical excellence by ensuring staff maintain the knowledge, skills, competencies, and professional standards required to provide safe and effective teletriage and health information services. The Clinical Manager leads change initiatives, supports organizational priorities, and is responsible for creating an environment that promotes staff well-being, engagement, performance, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

Current registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BN or BScN). Minimum three to five years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare. Experience in recruitment, employee engagement, attendance management, performance management, and labour relations. Experience leading teams in a unionized environment. Demonstrated experience managing operational performance, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational change. Experience working in virtual care, telehealth, or similarly complex service environment.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of nursing assessment, clinical decision-making, and teletriage principles. Ability to assess operational and environmental factors, analyze trends, and identify risks and opportunities. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Skilled in facilitating difficult conversations, conflict resolution, negotiation, and collaborative problem-solving. Proven ability to lead and support organizational change initiatives. Results-oriented with strong planning, organizational, and resource management skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders. Strong customer service focus and commitment to patient-centered care. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, clinical information systems, and healthcare technologies. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Mid-Level Leadership Certification or equivalent leadership development program. Experience supporting large-scale organizational change initiatives. Experience in virtual care, teletriage.
