Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a caring and detail-oriented individual to join our team at East Edmonton Health Centre. This opportunity is a temporary 0.6 FTE Admin III in the Community Perinatal Program (CPP), in Public Health. The program supports pregnant women who face risks to a healthy pregnancy due to lack of access to regular medical care, lack of money, isolation, language and cultural barriers, poor nutrition, substance use, or interpersonal violence. Through this program, a team of community health nurses and family physicians work together to offer prenatal care, education about labour and delivery, and postpartum care in a clinic setting. The successful person will be dedicated to creating and fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming care environment. The successful candidate has overall responsibility for the organization and flow of the Community Perinatal Program at East Edmonton Health Centre. Key responsibilities include booking and organizing client appointments, receiving and greeting clients, management of client records, and fostering supportive relationships with clients. This role is also responsible for managing and ordering supplies and resources, data entry and maintenance of program statistics and client information, assisting in day-to-day office administration, developing correspondence and reports, establishing communication channels with community partners, and responding to inquiries. The successful candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of the social determinants of health and possess a passion for working with vulnerable women. This position may require performing other administrative duties to support programs and services within the Edmonton Zone Public Health portfolio, as required.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Successful completion of medical office administration education from a recognized post-secondary institution is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered acceptable. Minimum 1 year recent related experience (within 3 years, at an FTE of 0.5 or greater) working in an administrative support role in a health environment. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to care for and support clients from diverse backgrounds and populations with open-mindedness. Knowledge of computer technology and applications including website navigation, office or business applications, health database use (ePeople, Netcare, Meditech, Connect Care, or other), and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work in a fast-paced, loud environment with competing, concurrent priorities. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and prioritize workload to meet established deadlines. Ability to work well within a team environment, both locally and across multiple programs. Ability to adhere to strict organizational policies, procedures, and legislated requirements, including patient confidentiality. Ability to carry up to 25 lbs of equipment or supplies. Ability to execute awkward and repetitive movements for an entire 7.75-hour shift, including sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods. Compliance with appropriate hand hygiene techniques, including regular use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap.
Preferred Qualifications:Awareness of social determinants of health. Non-violent crisis intervention. BLS.
