Your Opportunity:

An Administrative Assistant III (Receptionist)) is required in the South Health Campus Family Medicine Teaching Clinic. The receptionist is a member of the multidisciplinary team who collaborates and participates in the provision of primary health care services to patients and their families in the Department of Family Medicine. As the first point of contact, the receptionist plays a key role in promoting and contributing to team-based care and to the smooth and efficient operation of the clinic. The receptionist is responsible for greeting patients and their families, registering patients, scheduling appointments, and receiving and directing phone call inquiries. Recording and maintaining the patient demographic information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is required. Maintaining patient continuity of care is required by documenting patient concerns and inquires in the EMR and schedule. The duties also include generating invoices, receiving payment for uninsured services, pick up and distribution of clinic mail, and general office administrative duties. Participation in the Clinic Improvement Team, Quality improvement initiatives and the CHANGE team is an expectation of the role. The role participates and provides data on the Third Next Available Appointment (TNA), Central Patient Attachment Registry (CPAR), and Community Information Integration (CII).

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Post secondary education - Diploma. Current BLS. Medical Terminology course. Previous experience with scheduling in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), preferably Med Access. Excellent telephone etiquette. Customer focused, service oriented. Good listening skills. Good time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Medical Office Assistant diploma. Knowledge of the Patient Medical Home. Knowledge of the third next available appointment metric. Understanding of CII/CPAR and panel management.
