Your Opportunity:

The Administrative Support for the Public Health is part of a multidisciplinary team who works with Registered Nurses, LPNs, students, parents and school staff within the Leduc County Public Health Centres. The Administrative Support partners with community stakeholders to provide integrated, strength-based, family-centred care in various settings. This role supports services provided to school-aged children. The successful candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills. Specific duties include (but are not limited to): packing and unpacking supplies and vaccines, vaccine ordering and management, documentation in an electronic medical record, traveling to several schools and other sites, registering students, booking students into School Clinics, data entry, record management and minute taking. Work hours may be adjusted to accommodate school schedules i.e. early start times. The Administrative Support is required to pack, lift, move, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites. Service delivery may require walking several blocks and climbing several flights of stairs, awkward and repetitive movements, sitting, standing and/or bending for long periods of time. This position requires travel within urban and rural communities during work hours. This position supports other programs delivered within the health centres.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills required. Experience in interdisciplinary teamwork required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and organizational skills required. 1-2 years' experience in the last 5 years within a public health setting (Well Child Clinic, Healthy Beginnings, School Health), other community settings considered. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, Internet access and data entry required. Recent experience working with an EMR (e.g., eClinician, Connect Care) is required. Requires prolonged periods of sitting and standing. Prolonged, repetitive finger, hand, wrist, arm and shoulder use while on computer. Requires packing, lifting and transporting supplies (over 20lbs) to various work sites. Requires walking several blocks and climbing several flights of stairs. Requires ability to set up and take down rooms (e.g. table, chairs, wall partitions, and displays). Requires ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, sit, bend, knell, twist, squat, stoop, crawl, reaching, lift, push/pull and carry. Requires ability to deescalate potential situations of conflict or angry patients. May require evening and weekend work. Ability to work in a high-stress environment (e.g. disruptive, multi-sensory environment (e.g. clinic front reception).

Preferred Qualifications:

Diploma and higher levels of education in a related field are preferred. Skills & experience relevant to administrative practice in community sector will be considered. Experience with but not limited to newborns, infants, toddlers, preschooler, school-aged children, teens, adults, seniors, diverse cultures, and marginalized populations. Knowledge, understanding & demonstrated use of the social determinants of health and health promotion.
